Dealing with Stress

buns + burnt orange sweaters

Hello everyone! I've been pretty stressed with school and extracurricular activities and such, so I figured that I would do a blog post based upon that..

Breathe.

Okay, I'm almost always feel stressed during this time in the school year. It get overwhelmed and stressed and it feels like I can't breath very well; like something is sitting on my chest.

As you get older, you start to breathe by moving your chest up and down, instead of moving your stomach up and down, like babies do.

Lay down on your back, close your eyes (or open them if you'd prefer) and simply breathe like a baby for two to five minutes. It's a simple way to release stress and it works.

(If you don't know what I'm talking about, look it upon youtube or google).

Exercise.

Okay, something I do to relieve the frustration and stress from homework is exercise.

After I finish a subject (whether is be math homework, language arts, social studies, etc.) I do ten jumping jacks, ten sit-ups, and so on. Exercise has been proven to release stress and it gets blood flowing as well.

Switch it up!

Find an Outlet.

Whether is be drawing, writing, painting, playing an instrument, a n y t h i n g.

As long as it relaxes your brain and gets rid of the stress, do it!

Positive Self-Talk.

Something that makes people more stressed out is negativity or negative outlooks. Try to be a little bit more positive.

Negative:
"I can't do this."
"Everything is going wrong."
"I hate it when this happens."

Positive:
"I'll do the best I can."
"I can handle things if I take this one step at a time."
"I know how to handle this; I've done it before."

Talking like this (the positive ^^^) can help deal with the situations that cause you stress.

Emergency Stress Relievers.

1. Count to ten and then backwards from ten.
2. Take three to five deep breaths.
3. For a walk.
4. Name everything you know about yourself, starting from the easiest thing, gradually getting closer to the most complicated.

Well, that's basically it. Hope I helped! :)

Love Han x
